Serial Displacement Conference

The New York Academy of Medicine Working Group on Serial Displacement is pleased to invite you a conference on "Housing, Health and Serial Displacement."  This conference will be held April 8th, 2009, 8:30 AM to 5 PM at the New York Academy of Medicine, 1216 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10029.  Registration is free (but sold out!).  We will be providing a box lunch for $20 -- order in advance.

Urban renewal, highway construction, gentrification, HOPE VI, foreclosure crisis: a long list of policies and programs have led to the displacement of communities.  What is little understood is that these policies have led to repeatedly upheaval in American cities, destroying housing and undermining health.  This conference will explore the history, tactics and consequences of serial displacement.
